Tinning cable

    I'm running a HDMI cable through a conduit and it will terminate in an HDMI wall plug at each end. The plugs arrived yesterday and I will actually need to remove the heads of the HDMI cable and attach the 20 HDMI cables to the back of the HDMI plug. The procedure looks straight forward enough apart from the fact that I would need to tin the heads of each of the cables after strimming them.

    Is it just a matter of heating the iron, touching the back of the exposed cable and letting the solder flow onto it? I've never soldered before.

    Yes strip the wire and twist them together. Then add a small bit of solder to the exposed wire. Thats how I tin mine. You might want to use some flux too.
