Koleos - What I hired on my holidays

The Renault Koleos is not sold here, and now I can see why.

Hired one for 3 days on hols. It apparently has a 2.0 148 bhp diesel, but I'm not sure where it was keeping it, since mine seemed to be powered by a hamster on a wheel. Transmission was whiny, gearchange clunky (6 gears though!), steering connected to wheels by a rubber band, plastics hard and shiny.

On the plus side, the ride was comfy on crappy roads, visibility fine and the brakes were good (and needed!).

Is this yoke related to the Duster?

The last model was an X trail underneath iirc. That was sold here till 2010.

They're like hen's teeth in Ireland, but nobody wants hen's teeth either!

It was sold here briefly, think it was based on the Nissan X-Trail.

Same platform shared by Qashqai and X trail and the Koleos. That 2.0 dci engine is a pig, apparently very thirsty for a diesel in most cars it's fitted to, Laguna, Qashqai. So many cars these days would be in need of a proper remap. They could keep the horsepower and torques the same, just a different power/torque curve or something
