Get the 145 bus from Heuston to Trinity College, you will get off at stop 405 (just around the corner from the main gate), walk up the path to stop 406 and get the number 7 bus to Ballsbridge.
    You wouldn't really walk it.

Aye,so how much are the buses each then?

Bus 145 Heuston to Trinity (stop 406) €2.35
Bus 7 Trinity (stop 405) to Ballsbridge Inn Hotel (Old Jury's) (stop 415) €2.35

Cheaper if you've a Leapcard, but you probably don't if you're a visitor to the city.

Travel 90 ticket would be cheaper and nothing stopping you getting leap card either I have had plenty of tourists from all over use them even if they're over for a few days some even load on the 5day rambler.

As said use 145 or 90 depending on times and 7 or 4 from O'Connell bridge. Same on way back.

Leap fare would be €1.45 to Dolier St. from Heuston and €1.95 Ballsbridge so savings would be good and also the daily adult cap is €6.90 so any travel after that is free.

It's a small bit more complicated coming back.
Get the 7 from across the road from the hotel. Get off on O'Connell Street at the Spire (stop 279) and walk back across the bridge. To your right is Aston quay and you can get the 145 back to Heuston from a bus stop a little down that quay (stop 313).
    Same fares.

OP, another option is to walk to the bottom of Landsdowne Rd (your hotel is at the top of of it) and get the DART to Connolly Station. Then get the LUAS tram from Connolly to Heuston.

Or just get the 145 all the way to the Burlington Hotel and walk the couple of minutes to Ballsbridge Hotel.

The Burlington is on Upper Leeson St in Donnybrook. It is well over a mile away from where the OP is going in Ballsbridge. You wouldn't walk it in just a couple of minutes, especially if you are lugging suitcases and bags with you.
