BBC HD channels missing ( sky hd box )

I just picked up a second hand sky hd plus box without a card sub obviously.

BBC NEWS HD is not in the guide and I can't tune it in manually because the 'symbol-rate' setting for that channel ( 23000 ) is not selectable/available in the Manual Tune In settings section. This goes for BBCHD3 and 4 as well and possible other channels. Anyone know of a way around this ? Thanks.

BBC News HD should be on 570, BBC3 HD on 210 and BBC4 HD on 211

For 570 i get Channel Unavailable
    For 210 and 211 I get only the SD version of bbc3 & 4.

That means that the box was previously paired to an Irish card so you need to get your hands on a Sky UK card. I have one but I'm in the other side of the country. Those HD channels can't be manually tuned in to a Sky HD box.

    BUMMER !!!!!!!!!!!

But very kind of you to offer the card : )

But ya , your right the box had previously been used with an Irish Sub.

Fec Fec Fec and inner Fec

Unfortunately, a Sky HD box that has been paired with an Irish card is fairly useless.

Well it will still do all the freeview sd channels so it's not completely completely useless.

So I see a guy on ebay selling a 'freeviewfromsky' card for a tenner. Would that solve my problems and help in selling it which I will prolly do eventually ??

What I meant was .. viewing the UK free to air channels via 'other channels' on a Sky box is a bit of a pain, but if you're happy with it then grand!!
What you need is a Freesat from Sky card

    Not necessarily http://www.adverts.ie/5539779

The box was paired to an Irish card, but then later a UK FTV one. The box just remembers the last card inserted

I just got the box for my dad who's last sky sd box no sub went bust. I though he might like the hd upgrade but it's a little bit pointless if you only get like 3 or so HD channels. Anyway he's already got a skysdbox replacement and I'm left with this skyhd box I dont need as I've got an extremely capable htpc :D.

So...I've asked this already but I'll ask again "So I see a guy on ebay selling a 'freeviewfromsky' card for a tenner. Would that solve my problems and help in selling it which I will prolly do eventually ?"

The box is a drx890-c . If there was a way to hack it to get the recorder to work I'd be up for trying that too :D.

I'd say an uncrippled HD set top box would be a better idea.

    T :D.

Yes it will solve your problems
    Plenty of them on Adverts

If the box had an Irish sub, it will revert to the Irish epg if there is a power cut so you want the UK card to give you the UK epg and keep it
