    I have a Sony KDL-40HX703 TV...

    http://www.sony.ie/support/en/product/kdl-40hx703

My understanding is that I can receive Netflix through it.

My UPC router (120Mbps) is in an upstairs home office. The TV is downstairs.

Could someone please talk me through (in baby steps...:p) what I have to do to set it up?

I'm told I can get some sort of Google or Sony USB dongle that I can attach to the TV and stream from the router. Will this give me the kind of quality I'm used to from my HD Sky Box?

    Many thanks.

    D.

if its a smart TV then you won't need anything else bar the Sony netflix app to stream. Look for the App Store and netflix in it.

    Hi Blazer,

If by "smart TV" you mean that it can connect to my router without a USB dongle, then I don't think so.

i.e. no wifi capability, I think.

    Another question...

If I was to connect my Sky Box to broadband, could I get Netflix through it?

    Thanks.

2 Options, cheapest is to purchase networking cable and connect it to your router. Other option is to purchase the Sony Wireless dongle, it's around €80-€100. You could also look at buying a Google Chromecast dongle which connects to the HDMI port but you will require an Andriod phone to operate.

Have discovered that there's a LAN socket on the TV and every room in the house has LAN.

    Will see how that goes.

You should be sorted then - go to Home Menu>Network Set-up (Follow Wired Set-up > Custom.)

Then Refresh Internet Content - that will show what Internet content services are avaialble - I don't think you'll get Netflix though - you will get stuff like the TV3 player, SkyNews.

When you say you don't think I'll get Netflix, do you mean I'll have to set up an account first, or do you mean I won't get it via the LAN cable?

    Thanks.

I'm not sure the Netflix app is built into that particular model.
