The Shield or Sopranos. Thought BB was good but didn't like it as much as others. The West Wing was brilliant too

I wasn't a big fan of the Big Brother box sets either :P

    Sopranos.

Easily. Doesn't matter how many times I start afresh from series 1, still find things I hadn't noticed before.

Best series ever made imo. So many great characters.

Band of brothers was a really great series. Its follow up the pacific was all right, just the story was a disjointed compared to bob.

I can't think of any present I'd like less than a QI boxset. Fry's smug head on the cover and all that fake bonhomie. Eugh.

I loved Lost when it was on.

I know people didn't like the ending and felt it anti-climatic, but it was great to watch it all unfold.

Porridge is my all time favourite comedy though.

Due South I miss. Would love to see another series.

I haven't watched any modern series...now and then an episode or two of Minder and that will do me.

Breaking Bad - forced myself to watch all 5 seasons.

    So overrated. So disappointed.

I'd wouldn't agree with this as I found that the overall character development and story lines were both good and moving. I think that everything was wrapped up quite well towards the last episode and it ended in the most feasible way.

I know - tis a bit of a controversial opinion.

I found it a bit ridiculous at times. I found it quite boring at times.

Forced myself thru the 5 seasons.

The last episode with the remote control
controlling a gun said it all for me - just a
    bit too ridiculous at times.

The Shield. Have watched it beginning to end more times than I can remember and still enjoy it as much as the first time.

Rewatching it at the moment...just nearing the end of season 5.

    The west wing
    Game of thrones
    Breaking bad

    I've watched a few others which were ok to good;

    Mad men
Battlestar galactica (excellent first series, downhill from there)
Heroes (ok first series, downhill from there)

Has to be Band of Brothers. Right from the opening credits to the speech at the very end. Oh my days. I've seen it over, and over again. Superb.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,014 ✭✭✭Maphisto

Like others I can watch West Wing and the Sopranos over and over again. Such a shame that so many of the people from those shows are no longer with us: John Spencer, Mrs Landingham, Bruno, Gandolfini, Nancy Marchand, Mrs Johnny Sack, Carmine Senior, Carmela's father, and more that I've missed.

Enjoy Band Of Brothers but there are bits they got badly wrong and that grates a little lot.

I struggle with Breaking Bad and so far haven't got past the first 3/4 of Season 2. I will get back to it some time.

    in order

    1. The Soprannos
    2. Breaking Bad
    3. Game Of Thrones
    4. The Shield
    5. Band Of Brothers

Band of brothers. Fantastic. Once you watch the first you can't help but watch the rest in a marathon session .

Sopranos too. Brilliant. You can pick any random episode to pass an hour, and you'll still pick up in stuff you hadn't noticed before.

I'm not that old! I just don't start watching them because I'll lose interest after the first episode or two. I like Curb your enthusiasm too now that I think of it.

I lost complete interest in The Wire after a few episodes. Nothing was happening? Couldn't stick that any longer. Tried Breaking Bad too and I think I gave up after Episode 6 or 7.

I really enjoy Blue Bloods too. Not on the level of Band of Brothers, but I would consider it my guilty pleasure! :pac:

I'm surprised no one mentioned Lost and Prison Break.
Although to be fair, the final seasons of both series was crap.
