Advice on how to get my money back

    Hi,

Just looking for some advice here on how I should proceed with getting my money back from a music store in the UK.

Long story short, I ordered a guitar from a shop in the UK back in January. I was told at the time that they were out of this particular model and getting one made and shipped over would take 6 weeks. That was fine as I really wanted this particular model.
The money was taken out of my credit card on the day I ordered it. 6 weeks pass and I send an email to see if there is an update......they said it would take another month. A month passes and they said it will take another 3 or 4 weeks. This went on and on. What was really annoying is that I had to send at least 2 emails before I'd get a reply.

Eventually I gave up and asked for a refund nearly 3 weeks ago via email. The manager replied saying that refunding me seemed like the best thing to do as it looked like the guitar would never arrive. He left it at that but didn't take any details. I replied asking to be informed once they had refunded my money.
After another week of getting no reply I then sent another 2 emails asking for an update. Eventually the manager responded saying that he doesn't have my credit card details on file and will send a cheque in the post. I replied saying that I didn't want a cheque posted overseas and attached my current account details. I haven't had a response since and have sent another 2 emails, the last one saying that I will be getting advice from my solicitor. I have also phoned the shop a couple of times over the past few days and only got talking to an assistant since the manager was out, but the assistant said that he has passed on the message.

I can't get over how bad the whole experience has been. No replies to my emails and they have my money. At least I have a record of all the emails that have been exchanged between us.

Any advice on how I should proceed? Should I contact a solicitor? I'm not sure what they would even do?

    Thanks!

Get onto credit card company and get a charge back. Send them the emails as proof that you tried to resolve the issue.

I had thought of that but was thinking I might be a bit late since the money came out of my card 6 months ago! But I'll look into it. Thanks.

It shouldn't matter if you were strung along. Ring up your cc company in the morning and fill them in. The number is on the back of your card.

It doesn't matter how long it was if you didn't get the product you ordered and you can prove it then you're entitied to it, print off all email correspondences and post it to the relevant dept.
