    Hi All,

I've been working part time for the last 3 years 28 hours and recently I booked a holiday and was told by work that they would not give me the time off from work even though there had never been a problem before. Along with that I have been applying to go back to college in september and asked to cut my hours back.. All in all my work declined my request and I have had to resign and finish at the end of this month. I am wondering if anyone knows if I will qualify for any benefits.. I am already interviewing for other positions hoping to find something that will suit better

You've left your job without good reason so I would say you will have difficulties getting benefits and if you go to college in September you won't be available for work so you won't get any benefits then anyway.
Try and find another job and apply for a susi grant.
In future ask your employer if you can book holidays before you book flights etc.

Shame on the job front. When you resign your job for no reason there is an exclusionary period of up to 13 weeks. In order to apply for Back to Education Allowance in September, you would need to be in receipt of a social welfare payment for 9 months. You're not in a great position I'm afraid. You can apply for a SUSI grant alright but even at the upper end of this, you'll get around 2200 per 3 months, similar in level to the BTEA.

Just to clarify if you leave your job you can be disqualified for anything up to 9 weeks not 13 weeks.
