iPhone + my fat ears making FaceTime calls when I on calls

Good evening When I am on a phone call on the iphone4 my fat ears can make FaceTime calls. It's very annoying. Is there anyway of putting lock on screen so it does not make FaceTime calls when I am on a call? Thanks for any help offered :)

The iPhone has a proximity sensor beside the earpiece that should turn off the screen when you're on an audio call.

Check if this is broken, call your voicemail and place your finger over the sensor that's near the ear piece. The screen should go to sleep. If it doesn't it means this sensor is likely broken.
