I'm currently working as a shop floor assistant in monaghan but have plans to move up around drogheda / north dublin area. I was thinking of going around to the different supermarkets and handing in my C.V directly... would this be of an advantage ?

I spent about six hours walking all over town there a few weeks ago and to be honest I wouldn't bother.

Most of them will refuse to accept hard copy cv's anymore and will just tell you to apply online.

You need to give it to the manager.

    It's worth a try.

I say go for it, have a look around where you would like to work and post cv's directly to manager or hr.

Many years ago I handed in my notice with no job to go to (young & foolish) I decided that a company I knew of from work that I would like to try and get a job with them. I found a job with them advertised through a recruitment agent that I thought I might suit. I sent a cv to them directly and also applied through the agency.

The agency got me in did an interview with me said I'd be suitable that they'd forward on my cv to them but in the meantime sent me temping as I was out of work. The company contacted me for an interview then went on to offer me the job. I asked them did they hire me from my cv from the agency they said the agency never sent on my details they got my cv directly in the post from myself. It seems the agency where quite happy to just keep me temping to suit their own needs. I stayed in the company for 7 yrs.
