    Hi all,

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I have a 2007 ford focus 5 door hatch back with keyless ignition. This means doors boot and ignition all sense the key fob and open/start. However recently my boot no longer releases unless I actually press the physical boot button on the fob.

I can't find any hidden button or switch in the car or on the boot sill that would change the behaviour but I'm really hoping someone will know what I've missed, otherwise the sensor for keyless access for the boot may have failed.

    Any advise gratefully accepted!
    Thanks
    Mike

There should be a button underneath the lip just above the numberplate.Water gets into
this button via the bootlid and it stops working. It has a rubber cover and behind it is a microswitch.

This is the button I usually use to open it, that makes sense as the point of failure as the key's button still releases the boot. Good diagnostic skills, i never thought of that!

Only thing is to open the rubber might tear it, and if it does open what can be done to fix it, just drying it out?

    Thanks again for your help!

I dried mine out and it worked for a while, but failed when it filled up with water again.
Obviously the way to fix it properly is to find where the water is getting into
the boot in the first place, but I haven't the time or inclination to look for it.
I just use the button on the key to open it now.

If you want to remove the boot switch it can be accessed by removing the trim panel on
    the inside of the boot.
