I have both and prefer the Rauch spinner. Look up on donedeal for prices.

We've an Abbey wagtail spreader here which is a copy/similar to a vicon wagtail fro the past 10 years. Will hold aprox 700kg manure. Never had any bother with it, but I clean and grease regularly. Seems to give a good even spread. Only thing to watch for is to ensure that the plastic tip of the spout does not get damaged or is replaced if it does get damaged.

We have also used it to spread grain, grass seed, kale & clover over the years.

If buying secondhand check that bearings underneath are sound as they can be tough to replace if nuts are badly rusted. Look for evidence that it has been greased regularly.

Dunno much about the modern spinner spreaders. More expensive generally, throw the manure further, probably more in their mechanism, gears etc to go wrong if they start giving trouble. Maybe someone else can give you a steer on them?

Prices? depends what you buy - looking at DD you should get something decent for €700 ? for a decent size wagtail in good condition. Don't go too old and don't buy a pile of rust. Buy one which will hold at least the large 500kg bag. What price are they new? If you mind it you'll get 15 - 20 yrs out of it.

Depends what your budget is? A second hand wagtail will be got fairly cheap!
