microsoft jobs gone

    18000 jobs to be lost on Microsoft over the next few months. Gotta be another massive blow to the economy. I thought the days of company's like Microsoft reducing staff was gone..

    AFAIK the vast majority of the jobs will be lost in Nokia, which Microsoft recently acquired. Haven't seen a Nokia phone in ages tbh, surprised they even had that many people to lay off.

    Big companies, 100k or more employees worldwide will always expand and contract at rates greater than others so their numbers get bigger headlines.
    But many of them are still cutting a lot. It is cyclical for the better run companies who can adapt to changes in the market.
