I agree. I think it's crazy. How did they not notice this in the pre race inspection? it shouldn't have been noticed in the parade ring.

Happy for Coolmore but Dermot should be upset with the delay

Yeah ban the only English trainer to bring over a runner! Why run the race at all, just hand the coolmore mob the trophies and the prize money because at this rate no one will turn up to watch these benefits for them. I'm sure these shoes had rocket boosters fitted or some other performance enhancing benefits.

The rules are the rules. once again you can't blame Coolmore they are supporting European racing at the group one level. where was Flaxman ?
The Aga Khan, The Rothshilds ? Juddmonte ? Godolphin ? The Qutaris ?

The Coolmore bashing really does get old. Every other trainer could adhere to the rules why not Cumani? Probaby a mere oversight but he is a bit long in the tooth for that. And without being pedantic he wasnt the only English trainer to bring over a runner.

It's not so much that they were performance enhancing but they were a risk to others. the shoes have "wings" on them that extend beyond the hoof. if she were to clip another horse going 30-35 mph it could have been a catastrophic outcome. that's why they are banned.

Cumani said: "As far as I'm concerned it wasn't a controversy because it's never been one in England.
"For horses that can knock themselves behind, we have what are called trailers on their hind shoes which helps them keep their hind feet apart and stops them knocking their hind legs.
"We've done this in England many times, we've done it round the world many times and it never entered our calculations that it may not be allowed here.
"As it wasn't allowed, fine. Rules are rules. We took those off and she ran well.
"It took a bit of time and I apologise for the delay we caused, but in all honesty we just didn't know this would be a problem.
"I'm here to get the filly to the post and make sure she runs to the best of her ability.
"Those shoes have helped her in the past, so we just did what was best for the filly.
"I'm sure the public were happy to see her run and not have her withdrawn.

Not bashing them just fed up with them running hatfuls of horses in the one race. Now either O brien hasn't a clue so he runs them all or he get's a kick out of deceiving the public . Maiden race earlier in the day wouldn't have won him many new friends either. The whole irish classic calander needs a revamp in my opinion and these evening classics have become a non event.

In what way do you think he's "deceiving the public"?

Deceiving the public ? WOW those are harsh allegations. Ok lets have it your way lets take his five horses out of the race today and what are you left with 5 horses ? Yes a five horse Irish Oaks. do you think Darley and other sponsors will continue to put up millions inorder to support a 5 hose Irish oaks ? I've said this before and I'll say it again If somehow one were able to magically remove Coolmore from the Irish racing scene IRISH RACING WOULD COLLAPSE. thousands of people in Tipparay would be out of jobs and there would be no Irish racing to worry about.

There was Irish racing before coolmore and there would be after them as well. In any case the're not going to magically disappear but a few barren years for them wouldn't do any harm. As for O brien himself, great trainer for sure but not the only one who could do it with the resources he has. As a person one of the most irritating people on earth.

He's not always honest when he talks about his horses ( if there's been a setback or an injury or anything else that might lead to a below par performance) but he only enlightens the racing public after the event.

If the fillies are good enough why not run them? He had the Irish guineas winner, the Ribblesdale winner, well fancied Tapestry and Palace. You could argue the only one that didnt deserve their place was the eventual fourth. No point diluting the quality of the race because they are by the same trainer.

Should JP not be allowed five or six in every big handicap chase?

Barren years means cutbacks and jobs being lost. A lot of people in that part of Ireland depend on the success of Coolmore. so If they fail people will lose jobs and start to depend on a government that's already spread thin But who cares about that as long as Coolmore fails right ?

And this is the argument I have made all week given his stock or resources right ? Well how has Saeed Bin Suoor performed with his top stock ? there is a common belief that AOB just microwaves these horses. some ignore the training ,problems and pressure He must encounter in order to get the horses to the top races. Not just anybody can walk off the street and train a horse to win a race. especially with the pressure of a Billion Dollar company hanging on your shoulders

LOL But his job is not to inform the public of which horse they should bet. nor is it his job to explain to the public the condition of his horses.

I'd argue that it is certainly in the spirit of things to inform them. Remember without betting there wouldn't be any racing at all!
