Im travelling to India next week and leaving Dublin with Brittish Airways to Heathrow T1 then getting a connecting flight from T4 to Quatar with Ethiad. Im wondering what happens to checked in luggage, do i have to go get it off the conveyor belt or is it automatically transfered the connectign flight. I only have about an hour and a half to change etc. Also do i have to check in again and go through security stuff.

If all your flights are on the one itinerary you won't need to do anything as your bags will be checked to your final destination but the best thing to do will be to ask when you check in at the British Airways desk

That is true if there is an interlining agreement between BA and EY; I'm not sure that there is but you'll find out from the check in agent if not before.

EY is Star Alliance and BA is One World and they have an interline agreement. However are you sure it's Etihad and not Qatar Airways? Etihad don't fly direct to Qatar so you would be stopping in Abu Dhabi?

    EY isn't the Star Alliance.

Alliances have little to with it. Airlines have interline agreements for baggage with all sorts of airlines with those in alliances and outside of alliances

OP: like suggested earlier, if the flight was booked as one you should have your bags checked through. You can always ask BA on Twitter and Facebook, their reps there generally seem responsive.

Generally when you land in Heathrow, passengers with connecting flight will be asked to disembark on the rear of the plane and they will be taken by bus to a transfer station. You will then be able to get a bus to your departure terminal.

When you arrive at this terminal you will have to go through security again.

You should be fine with the time you have. If you have to get your bag it is more complicated.
