Removing oil-based varnish from clothes. Acetone any good?

Having freshly varnished the shed, I somehow got oil-based varnish on my shirt.

It happened yesterday so it's somewhat caked on now.

Any way of removing this? Would acetone (nail varnish remover) damage the clothes?

Acetone is highly damaging to a lot of materials. You could try an acetone-free nail varnish remover. They are less damaging.

White Spirits or Turpentine would be a better solvent and less likely to dissolve/damage polyester fibres that might be in the shirt

Clear shampoo works wonders on a lot of stains...I would give that a go. A lot of stain removers should also work, so if you already have some I would read what could work best on it.
