Handheld Game Console - Android

Hey Guys

So have been looking around at these for a while and no further on. I have a kid who is turning 14, I don't know how many DS etc we have bought and was going to try something different and go with an android console.

Wondering are they any good? is the game/picture quality up with the DS and Wii U?

Also which is best to buy? looking on geekbuying and there is range of devices, how many cores/ram would I need to make sure majority of games run?

Do you need wifi to run most of the games?

Looks great but something I would buy for myself

I would expect it to last a month and the kid would have it snapped in 2 like the last 2 DS's

Have you thought about the old Xperia Play? I picked a new one up on AliExpress for €60. Another very popular one is the JXD S7800B but I had an earlier model and found it way too big.

All of them have some sort of issue or another. I have a GPD-G5A which is alright and can play most things up to 2D psp games but it has a very poor d-pad.

Any idea what sort of spec is required? I have a old game emulator on Nexus and it runs fine.....

Would it need a quad core and 2GB cache?

Thats not Android, all the games are inbuilt and I think they are 16 bit games only so you are looking at mostly snes and megadrive games I would cancel if I was you.

Not useless but these games can be easily added to the crapest of android phones, I would stick to a gaming tablet as some of the android games are really good.

Looks like a knock off of a PSP.

It might do the young lad for Christmas, going to look at higher spec unit for myself and then if any good will get him one another day,.....

Just an update, little handheld is grand, about 400000 games on it, mostly old games I would have played on Amiga/Sinclair but he likes it, the build quality is not great, I think it will fall to bits if not looked after but still ok for the price

Looks ok and selling here for 99, anybody any ideas on this? Better value out there?

Yeh that looks good, Archos are a decent brand.
