Depends what you want it for?

For getting into cycling, doing sportives and a few club spins etc even on an beginner basis, no, they would be absolutely rubbish.

If you want to potter to the shops, short spins in and out to work 1 or 2 days a week and a spin around the park with the kids, it would probably do fine, just don't expect it to last too long. A sniff of water and it'll rust etc etc.

Look at the second hand market for that budget, the likes of Giant Defy, Trek 1.5 or Specialized Allez, you should get one around the 400-450 mark. Great first time road bikes. I know it's over your budget but believe me, its worth it. I didn't look at sizes but heres a few to give you an idea of what you should be looking for

Having said all that, if that's an absolute max budget and you've ZERO wiggle room, any bike is better than no bike at all!

    Hope that helps

Hi, I would have a decent old french frame bike for sale, if interested. Mbk Super Mistral Road Bike white and gray. I'm in Dublin south, and can show it to you, just pm me, if interested.

Thanks a lot for the responses. I bought this bike a few months ago for €170 and thought it was excellent, but I had previously agreed with a friend to sell it on to him after a month so I don't have it any longer. Was it a good deal or is it just on par with the other bikes?
