    Hi all,

I signed up on Twitter last night out of curriosity. I would follow blogs and pages and facebook but I am finding that a lot of posting by those I follow just dont show up on my news feeds. So I am trying out twitter.

This afternoon I have found that two people I don't know are following me. Now I haven't even tweeted anything and I follow about 30 friends and other posters. Is there as way of getting them to "unfollow" me?

You can block them and if you want to control who follows you in future there is a privacy setting so you can approve followers and your tweets are private to non-followers. Don't know where it is through ... Somewhere in settings I guess.

If you don't follow them back why would it matter?

And if you want your account to be private check here:
    https://twitter.com/settings/security under "privacy"

If you don't want them to be blocked in case it offends them or something I think you can just unblock them after they are off your followers list. I don't think they will receive any notification of this.

Block them & change privacy settings.

Shouldnt really matter too much because what they post wont show up in your feed!

That's sort of how Twitter works. It's not really designed to be a private communication tool. It's all about chiming in on discussions with random people rather than just people you know.

It's very different to Facebook in that regard.

    Thanks all.

Ya I'm trying to get the hang of it. Its now lets me accept or decline a follower now so that seems to be sorted.

Twitter seems to be ok for little nuggets of news, but Facebook seems to encompass more. I was just getting annoyed with FB lately as a lot of pages I would follow aren't really showing in my news feed anymore. I have to log on with a pc and see if I can change my setings or something.

Twitter's all about #tags and topics.
Start using and interacting with more people using various #tags and you'll start to get the hang of it.

It's far less personal than Facebook.

just block them and then unblock them, they won't be following you anymore and they won't be notified of it
