    Just got a letter from the revenue with a copy of a SAD(??) inclosed. I bought a kindle from Amazon.com(USA) back in 2012 and are now looking to claim excise duty on it. They asked for my PPS number, I thought they'd have that already and I'm a little anxious about sending it to them.
    Is it legit do you think?

    There is no excise duty on this kind of product. It may be Duty and/or VAT. I am sure there are contact numbers on the letter. It is not unheard of for Revenue to do a post entry audit. Never heard it in the context of a private individual. Will PM you with my e-mail address, perhaps you can e-mail it to me and I will have a look at it for you if you want me to (I am 30+ years in transport, customs clearance and logistics).
