I'd have a full beard (if I let it grow) I have told a few people it (they say they see nothing)...... but it's really ruining my life, I pluck a couple of times a day, I also wax every couple of weeks....... Does anyone else suffer from this? ........I'm only 57!

It happens when our bodies start slowing down in making estrogen, is threading an option?

Threading is not an option for me, I'd have to let the hair grow some before you can start threading. I need to pluck as soon as I feel the hair growing through.

One of my friends has a problem with this, if it's any comfort I really would believe people when they tell you they can't notice it. I had no idea it was an issue for her til months after I knew her, I couldn't believe it was upsetting her so much and affecting her confidence, she was convinced everyone could see it.

She's ended up going for laser treatment, is that an option for you? It's not cheap and it's not quick but if it's really making you this miserable it could be worth it.

Yes, I had the laser treatment (10 sessions) It helped with the dark hair, some of it grew back but not as coarse as it was, the problem I have is with white hair growth, it grows thick and coarse and there is no treatment for that.

Does electrolysis not help with the white hairs? Or is it the same as laser?

Electrolysis should take care of the white hairs. I had a few patches of bristles :D and had it done. It took about a year, going once a month and the hair went completely.

    Hurts like a f***er though. :)

Just use a razor or electric trimmer. It won't grow back thicker.

I've heard that electrolysis is very expensive, (more expensive than laser) Did you have to let the hair grow before you had the treatment?

Electrolysis is the only proven method of permanent hair removal. You might need sessions every 2 wks starting out then less as you go along. It works on all colour hair and won't stimulate dormant hairs which is the risk with facial laser. It can cost as little as €10 for 5 mins depending on where you go. You can usually buy a package of minutes as well. You can trim the hair between treatments but it has to visible on the treatment day.

I could trim the hair down to the skin but not pluck it.There did need to be a bit of length on it so it could be pulled out after being zapped. But maybe if you agreed to work on a particular area for a few months with the beautician you could do it in stages?

Cost wise it was €20 per 15 minutes and €35 for 30 mins.

Hi, I was just looking up electrolysis for white facial hair.. You said you had it done back in 2014.. just wondering if it grew back? Wondering if its really worth the pain/hassle/money?

I had one session of electrolysis done years ago in a highly reputable place - my skin was marked for years after. I wouldnt recommend it.

Hi I have had electrolysis done over the years it does work. It depends on the stage of growth that the hair is caught at whether it grows back or not. It is definitely worth trying it.

It worked for me too. I go for the odd session to keep on top of it too. Works out at the same price as waxing.
