    Hi,
I am looking for Xpicons for Irish DTT channels, has anybody come across these?
Also I would be interested to know what is the difference between picons and xpicons? Is it just that the images are resized or is there more to it than that?

I know they are stored in separate folders. I am using Black Hole image on Vu+ Solo2 and My MetrixHD skin.

    Thanks

The picons should be "shd.transparent-white no padding". These are Super HD (also called XPicon).

Have you got the pictures stored on the internal flash or a dedicated USB stick ?

This will determine where to run the telnet command from for symbolic link.

TELnet runs from Windows run command (telnet.exe), dos like windows opens.

o 192.168.0.XXX [xxx = IP of your box]
    root
    [password]

cd /picon/ [if internal flash] OR if on cd /usb/media/picon [if usb storage] THEN cut and paste and press return for each.

    ln -s tv/3/3e.png 1_0_16_452_3E9_2174_EEEE0000_0_0_0.png
    ln -s tv/t/tg4.png 1_0_16_450_3E9_2174_EEEE0000_0_0_0.png
    ln -s tv/t/tv3ireland.png 1_0_16_44F_3E9_2174_EEEE0000_0_0_0.png
    ln -s tv/r/rtetwohd.png 1_0_19_44E_3E9_2174_EEEE0000_0_0_0.png
    ln -s tv/r/rteonehd.png 1_0_19_835_3EA_2174_EEEE0000_0_0_0.png
    ln -s tv/r/rteone+1.png 1_0_16_83C_3EA_2174_EEEE0000_0_0_0.png

you will also have to upload to relevant folder (ie same as above - /media/usb/picon if using usb OR /picon if internal flash) on the box (using filezilla) the following picon files as the channels do not exist on 28.2E and so there are no picons.

    @STB Thanks for your help.

My Xpicons are in internal flash in /usr/share/enigma2/XPicons/picon so I saved the pics for RTE 1+1, RTE 1 & RTE News Now from the links that you posted above.

Then I renamed the PNG files to the service reference using DreamboxEdit (instead of using telnet and symlink command) and using filezilla transfered them to /usr/share/enigma2/XPicons/picon. [When you right click on service in DreamboxEdit you can select "Copy service reference to clipboard"]

So the RTE One HD/ RTE One+1/ RTE News Now are working and showing up fine. Do you by any chance also have RTE Two HD/TV3/TG4/3e/RTE Junior?

Do the PNG files have to be a certain size, you mentioned no padding. What is the difference between regular picons and no padding?
Can I use the picons for RTE TWO HD that are in picons folder as Xpicons or is there some conversion that needs to be done?

It would be neat to know how to make your own default one when some are missing.

    Thanks again.

You could use DreamBoxEdit to send the XPicons up too (just change the default folder in settings).

The other Irish channels you could source on the net (look for XPicons for 28.2).

XPicons just need to be 220 x 132 (well they don't need to be but that is the standard size if you know what I mean). I'm not sure where the reference to padding comes in - that's just a certain style of XPicon but any 8bit or 32 bit PNG of the size I mentioned will do the job.

Regular Picons are 100 x 60 so, no, you couldn't use them unless you increase the size. Or you could use them but they'd look lost in your infobar,

Making your own is easy as long as you have image software to do the job.

If you don't locate the other Irish let me know - I could throw copies over to you.

How are you finding MyMetrix on Blackhole btw? I found it difficult - maybe it's improved?

Thanks Radiowaves, I took your advice and found some 28.2 Xpicons and now have remaining Irish ones converted for DTT so job done ....for now. I need to get better using DreamboxEdit as you suggest to manage picons/Xpicons

I quite like MyMetrix skin and did find it difficult to start with. Recently I got lazy and am now using a backup image of BH2.1.0.1 from Ten Below that I got from another forum. It has MyMetrix (I had to change colour scheme and weather setting code) and Cool Nice Guide set the way I like them so I am happy for now. Not so sure I could have set it up that way from scratch though :)

I still have Metrix by iMaxxx showing when the Xpicon is missing and would love to know where to put a custom image as a default background though. Also picons show as symlinks in \picon folder and a few of these are missing so I need to figure out where they are stored to fix them. As you know us hobbyists are always nearly there, but never quite fully there if you know what I mean. But learning how to overcome each hurdle keeps us going which is why we love these forums and the knowledge sharing all you guys provide.:D
