Hi, I was thinking of doing a year course in St. Johns in Cork, I'm 21 and have been on Jobseekers Allowance only for 2-3 years now but there are course fees which I can't afford. Is there any Grant or scheme i can apply to to help me cover that cost and my living situation? I live alone, and half my j.s.a. is going towards rent. I want to do something like mechanical engineering or sustainable energy and building systems, both fetac level 5.

I've seen the Back to education allowance, they'll only reduce the fees by 300 and mech-engineer is like 750, the sustainable one is 800.

    How about SUSI?

Go for BTEA and then apply to SUSI to pay the fees. Thats my advice.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
