Lidl Grafenwalder weissbier (In a blue 500ml can) is €0.89 a can at the moment in store (Tyrrelstown). No mention of this reduction online, so not sure if it's in all stores.

It's not bad stuff taste wise, and will keep you going till the Franziskaner is back on offer :D

Great to see it back, hasn't been in the Cavan store for 2 years. Nice Weiss beer, puts many expensive bottled stuff to shame.

    Why would you think that????

Hard to blind taste it, against its bottled version, when it only seems to come in a can!

Just my opinion, but I think Weisbier should always be served from a bottle, sometimes you can get a "tinny" metallic after taste from a can.

I think you get that from any beer in a can, not just Weiss beer. I do however pour into a proper long glass, cause your nose seems to pick up the alloy smell from the can and alters your taste.

Couldn't see any in Carrick-On-Shannon LIDL today so not sure if nationwide - depends on stock I suppose

On an aisle display in Carlow. Around 20 trays on the floor.

About the same amount in Cavan, in the usual place. However its not the beer I had in mind, they have in the past had a very nice Weiss beer in a very pale blue can.

This stuff is actually pretty decent tasting, but beware, it'll blow the socks off you, it's really strong!

My palette has being too used to the ultimate beautiful tasting Belgian "Leffe Blonde" beer they have from time to time in Lidl for €5.50 for 4 bottles.

I used to drink these wheat beer cans from time to time, and bought a few but they just taste watered down now. Dare I say they taste like Budweiser
Maybe my alcoholism has just progressed beyond them !

I'm just a few weeks back from a family holiday in Brittany where Leffe was in Super U for an incredibly cheap price.
These days I'm on a budget so I look at the price per litre and make my decisions. So far, this beer is the best taste per price per litre that I've had.
They're sold in single cans so you don't have to commit to a case.

He might have blind tasted some other weissbeers in cans & bottles.

In the beer forum one group of guys did do blind tastes and turned out they could not detect a difference. I doubt I could tell the difference.

Many who go on about the metal taste are actually drinking directly out of a can. Most cans are lined with plastic inside, the only exposed uncoated metal bit is outside or at the hole where it is raw metal.

Are you pouring it? Have you ever got a metallic taste from bottled beers, many would be brewed in stainless vats?

Many "craft" beers are turning to cans now, some see it as superior to bottles as there is no light damage.

Wetherspoons in blackrock are serving cans, a booklet came in the door with them talking about it. I always find it extremely odd that cans are not seen in pubs, some go on like its an outlandish suggestion yet would gladly drink directly from a can at a BBQ without a second thought.

I'm a bottle man myself. Still havn't got over it since they stopped selling milk in glass bottles.

However I'll take one for the team and try a few over the weekend.
Cheaper beer= better cuts of steak.

Yeah I bought a couple in the interests of research, found them a very watery weisbier, with a strong ( unwelcome) hint of bud

One thing I've found if you leave them in the fridge to cool too long on their side , the yeast sediment settles in a solid lump, and that gives you a watery beer. This happens with all hefeweisen, but it's more obvious if it's in a bottle cause you can see it stuck to the glass and give it a swirl to dissolve it.

is there much yeast sediment in this lidl stuff

Very little to none I believe, but this is not a "crystal" or clear wheat beer. There is a cloudiness which is caused by the wheat proteins typical to this type of beer.

I really like it. I relieved my local lidl of 24 of them a while ago.
