Hi all, I recently started a new job and due to get my first weeks wages this coming Friday.. I have been told i will be emergency taxed. I was a single stay at home mother for 6years prior to getting this job and have moved house twice and have no idea where my p45 is, I cant remember if the social welfare took it as part of my claim.. Do they take it??. Or I just lost it. Was wondering where does that leave me in terms of contacting revenue to cease the emergency tax?? Thanks in advance :)

You don't need your P45 in this case - just contact Revenue with your PPS number and your employers number and ask for your tax credits to be assigned to them. Revenue will send you a certificate of tax credits and one to your employer as well. Once you've assigned your tax credits make sure to let payroll know so they can download the latest info for you from the Revenue

    Your employer completes a P46.
