The Fermanagh Herald has announced today that Lough Erne has been sold to an American businessman with strong Irish ties. The place was valued at £30 million a few years back, so £5 million is a wee bit of a drop.

The article is only available in the online edition of the paper... which you have to pay for... but the story will spread soon enough.

There was a rumour doing the rounds that Trump had bought it... that might still be the case, but I suspect he'd have flown over here by now to announce it or sailed his multi-million dollar yacht up the Liffey, trying to reach the lough.

Slight drop in price is right! Having Watched Trumped I only hope it isn't him

Does it mention if the staff and offer will remain, especially in the restaurant? I've a booking there for next year!

I really hope all the staff remain in employment at least up until you go for your meal....

Glad it was sold tbh, all those special offers and deals recently screamed of a place that was in bother. Hopefully the new owners turn it around and make it viable.

That's not what I meant. My parents went recently and had a wonderful time, playing two rounds and eating in the great restaurant. I wanted to replicate that. I would have thought that was a good thing, no? Trying to give business to a struggling enterprise, no?

I would doubt it that The Donald bought this - he seems to be more keen on links courses by the sea, but you never know. Maybe Rory bought it?!!

I'm sure the new owners will honour the offers but I'd be surprised if there weren't big changes in staffing.
Something will have to give and it'll probably be a star and quite a few staff imo.

By "offer" I meant what they offer, not discounts. That wasn't so obvious I suppose. Hopefully the great quality of the course and the restaurant don't suffer due to this sale.
