Involved in a collective that is thrashing about in Poland, purchasing/long term lease. Still about a year from actual purchase I'd say. I'm a very minor stake holder.

    Maybe make him a partner?

    Give him dignity.

It's not all about you, ya know.

How far East? Biggest problem I've heard of over there is corruption. Stories of say afew thousand acres of tillage ready to be harvested, and someone else sends in afew combines during the night and lifts it. In terms of milk then, what about processing it? How fair is it practical to send a lorry load of liquid milk? Land is supposed to be very cheap over there now, with thousands of acres lying idle? Combined that with cheap labour and I can see the huge appeal. Does grass grow consistently anywhere there??

Mahoney dont take this the wrong way. But its his land to do with as he pleases. I wouldnt like to ask someone to sell their land just out of the blue.

1600 to 1800 cow unit. All land to produce fodder to be secured, approximately 60% purchase, 40% contract

Edit: I'm the only irish person involved. Don't have much money but I'm being carried for a specific skill set.

Have done a trip with a certain German combine company in Hungary and know a few guys with part shares in big farms, know of guys Irish and Uk who worked there with likes of Myria(local mob) and continental farmers amongst others. Reading magazines read of super big farms but can't see how you could manage it as some of the stories are mad, just keeping guys driving not parked up to drink vodka at night seems impossible and then stories of just filling sprayer with water as they sold your chemical off the back of a lorry job

2 of the members involved in our group are locals. One ex local politician, the other knows local business "techniques"
You cannot go hung Ho into a place with out local approval.

We had a poster on here from that neck of the woods. I'd be very interested to hear his opinion.

Ay, one of the guys i spoke to about it likes to tell about having some local 'buisness' men mind the machinery at night with certain 'payments' or else no one would turn up for work and all the fuel would disapear like the angles share .

Wi was in the cech republic about a dozen years ago and one of the big problems was credit terms, you paid for everything on delivery but you got paid for last years crop when you supplied this years crop or with milk 3 to 6 months later and not at all if you moved processor, whats it like doing bissiness in the xeastern block countries now
