seatpost collar broken, how can it be repaired?

    I have an old marin palisades trail, the seatpost collar is broken, it's the tube part where the bolt goes through, someone over tightened it, what's the best solution for repairing it?

    A steel frame? A simple weld and file, I'd imagine.

    I don't know if you'll have to make 'engine' noises as you ride in, but they can weld aluminium.

    Could you file/grind off the existing clamp and replace it with something like this:

    Lots of size options there.

    it's done now, ground off the old bolt lugs (and a little bit of my finger tip)... filed it smooth a got one of those seat clamps you mentioned, worked a treat...
