Hi there, I'm writing this on behalf of a Pakistani friend. Basically himself and his wife was working in Ireland for years until June 2013. They both decided to move to Canada. They moved claimed Irish tax back and hated Canada so moved back to Ireland feb 2014. They both started working early ish in march 2014. My q for the forum is that his wife started on like the 6th if march and he started work on the 18th of march. To date he hasn't paid paye whereas his wife has. He has tried calling the tax office, but to no avail. Is anybody able to shed any light?! I thought it was to do with his overall earnings threshold...thanks

Why would he call the tax office? If he is not been paid he needs to talk to his employer. If he needs his tax credits & srcop's sorted , then he needs to talk to the tax office, who will issue him with his relevant cut off points.

has your friend being receiving weekly payslips with earnings etc on them? Having started in a job March would have left only 2 months of tax credits unused so really should be paying PAYE/USC/PRSI by now unless on a very low income. However, he should still be getting payslips. I'd advise ringing revenue and checking that the employer has actually registered your friend with as a company employee. Its the first thing that came to my mind that your friend wasn't registered.

Not sure what to understand from your comment that "he has tried calling the tax office, but to no avail". Did revenue not have him on record or did he not understand what was being explained to him? Revenue was usually extremely helpful once you do get through to them.
