Lack of motivation

    Hello,

I have several repeats in college coming up in August and every time I go to study its like all the motivation is drained from me. Is this normal or is it just me? I love my course but I don't seem to have any motivation to study, this is the main reason I failed them in the first place. What causes this? Is there any solution for it? I want to nip this in the bud now.

Can it be the environment in which you are studying? As an example, if it's the university/college library, then it may paradoxically be quite noisy there - there may also be a lot of people moving about. Some people, like me for example, are very aware of our surroundings and a lot of noise and movement can distract us.

Ironically, I found it easiest to study on the bus home and then also whilst lying on my bed listening to my Enya CD on repeat. If I had to study in the library, then I'd find a desk where I was facing a wall.

What I'm saying may not explain your feeling of having a lack of motivation though... If what I'm saying is not relevant to your case, then try this: Change the way that you study. What I used to do was make my own notes of the most important points from the text-books/handouts. The mere act of writing them makes the notes more 'personal' to you and is a process of study in its own right.

    Kind regards
    Kevin
