Wedding Abroad

    Hi guys

My Fiance and I are planning on getting married in September 2015. We like the idea of getting married abroad and have contacted some wedding planners for information. I love the idea of italy but it seems very expensive. For 50 people I was quoted €20k! devastaed as it is my dream location but we just cant afford that price before buying dress, suits etc. I have read good reviews on Malta for weddings, the venues look beautiful and it is reasonably priced but I dont know anything about it as a holiday destination. I have been looking online and have read mixed reviews. It seems that there is only one area which has nightlife and sounds like it is very tacky. We were planning on going on a trip to see the place but dont want to waste our time and money if it is not nice. We dont like built up, overly busy holiday resorts and wondered if anyone can advise if there is an area in Malta that is not too overly developed with high rises etc, has some nightlife without being tacky and is near a beach. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Or any suggestions of other locations in Europe to get married would be great. We want a civil ceremony, ideally near sea or lakes, around 50 guests.

    Thanks Very Much

We have wedding booked for may next year with them.Great Company our dream location also.

For 40 guests it is coming in around 12,000. This includes our holiday over there for me and her for 2 weeks. Married on castle terrace over looking lake. Champagne Boat ride for us and guests to reception venue. 5 course dinner 3 hours with photographer! Look into it

No problem for us the location is very important! Something truly to remember. Comes in the same price as her sisters hotel reception which was lovely, but you really can't compare ;)

Those views of the lake damn :)

Is that in Melcesine castle?? Absolutely stunning place, the streets around there are beautiful and the view is unreal. The only thing is that you might have tourists gawking at you, as I was one of those tourists gawking at a wedding when I was there, it was so beautiful I couldn't help myself!! :p

I have never been to Malta, but I've also never heard good things about it. From what I know it's very, very built up (with some awful architecture) and there's not much to do. And it's absolutely full of pubs selling all day English breakfasts and Yorkshire puds on Sundays. Which I'm sure some people love, but wouldn't be for me personally. Just a consideration, as I'm sure many of your guests might want to make a week of it. So they'll probably like to go somewhere nice...

Was in Malta last year and thought it was a beautiful country. Amazing architecture, beautiful towns and picturesque views out to the sea. I think a wedding there would be fantastic and have heard it can be affordable(though others may have specific info relating to that). I found very little that could be considered tacky or "touristy".

Great weather and friendly Maltese people are two additional bonuses!
