UCI and rules around Disk Brakes

Watching the TDF this year as I do every year, there have been some discussion around moving to disk brakes for all road bikes in the next 12 months.

Now, it is primarily the manufacturers that have been pushing this. Shimano have a working disk brake system that is ready to go while SRAM and others are working on one that will be ready in the coming months. This all boils down to making money for these companies more so than the need to move away from the current V brakes we are used to. Well that's my opinion anyway.

Problems I see with moving to disk brakes for the UCI tours is:

    1) Having to bleed systems (time issues)
    2) Heat generated under downhill braking
    3) You basically have a blade on your wheel that can be dangerous in crashes
    4) The speed at which you can change a wheel in a race
    5) They weight more than the V brakes

I personally don't think we necessarily need to move to disk brakes, and I am sure some of the teams feel the same way.

What are your thoughts on this proposed rule change to road bikes on the UCI tour?
