Hi guys I'm going to look at a 00 transit tipper tomorrow that I'm pretty sure the engine is fecked.we know the guy that owns it and he is pretty straight up kinda guy.
I'm pretty handy mechanically and the dad has years of experience with motors.
From my dealings with older Ford's they are usually handy enough to work on,has anyone any tips from experience in swapping engines in these?
I have to source a engine too so if anyone knows a good one going for the right money let me know,Wicklow,Dublin, sectors

Umm, yeah, maybe. Maybe not so much. Usually, the injector pump or injectors go, stopping the engine. The injectors may just pop out, or they may be frozen solid. I have found the pumps to be a pita to work on, but that's probably just me. An awful lot of these have gone for export, less common than they were.

I think this one ran low on oil and has done the shells and rings.he said he heard a rattle and then blue smoke turned it off and hasn't started since,I won't know jre until tomorrow..
From what I can gather there's two pumps the newer one uses ecu and the older early 90s pump cable operated.

I noticed there's a lot of stuff gettin exported more than most people think,

Pretty robust engine but I've seen a few run the bearings like what you describe.
Very easy to work on, the whole front bolts away off the van and you can work on it as if it was on an engine stand. This is the older model and pumps rarely give trouble on them. There was an issue with 99-01 models drawing air, but an easy modification to the leak back pipes prevents this.
The old engine will likely come out relatively easy but I found the only way to get it to join back up was to drop the gearbox and push it forward. The drive shaft disconnects and the gear level is removed by 3 torch bolts under the rubber cover inside. The gearbox then sits on a single crossmember bolted to the chassis.
