Garage doors

    Hey folks.
I'm in the market for a residential garage door. Did some searching on here but a lot of threads are 3-4 years old.

I've a 14ft opening and am considering an automated steel roller or an insulated roller. I wouldn't mind an insulated sectional, but there's potential for vandalism and there's no low ceiling for an internal track inside, roof is 20ft up.

What company recommendations do you guys have and any thoughts on cost before I start ringing around on Monday?

    Thanks. :)

Is the garage to the front or the rear?

Electric Roller Shutter all the way. I picked up a second hand one on done deal, with electrics, with remote for €150. Took about 6 hours to fit it, its probably a 2 person job but I managed and its been great the last 3 years. The only additional thing i bought for it was a remote from ebay for €35, so I have on ein the car and one in the house.

It's not visibly part of the house so doesn't really matter about looks, but want it to be half decent looking all the same.

    Any idea of size/price ml100?

It was on a farm shed, so heavy duty one with wild locks (stops the wind blowing the door in as it was an exposed site and big door), I think it was 5 meters by 6 meters, cost around €1400 inc vat, 3-4 years ago, no problems with it yet !

The bottom strip with the weather seal on the garage roller door at the house was damaged with a trailer reversing into it. It dented the bottom strip but everything else seemed fine. It started to cause an issue with the door when going down it would jam.

I greased the guide rail and widened it but its as if the motor is missing cogs in the gearing. My father persisted in using it, and I want to get it rectified before it completely packs in. The door is now not going up fully (about 14-15" short) manually or using the motor. And when going down using the motor will start to unravel.

The bottom strip needs replacing and I imagine the motor gearing too, also as the house is practically new I would replace the guide rail as its now bent if it wasn't too out of the way in price.

I was wondering if anyone has an idea of the cost to buy these parts and get the door repaired?

Thanks in advance for any and all help,

    Gavin
