Phantom toilet seat

    Hi,

Im having a problem with replacing a toilet seat.
The toilet is a sealed basin and only part to fix the toilet seat is on the top.
Im led to believe that you use some sort of 'drop bolts' to fix it.
The thing is that I went to various bathroom/ hardware shops and only one of them had what they saw as a replacement seat. It was going to cost over €100, which I cant afford.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me.

    Many thanks

    Fintan

Standard seat that suites shape. Grip fill adhesive in holes.
Drop seat + standard bolts into holes.
    Leave for 24hr to set.
Drawback = one and only time you can do this without drilling out holes/ gripfill again.
    Cheap seat €25
€75 savings, is it worth it ?

Just wondered if you got sorted on this. Would be interested to know how you got on.
Not sure how "broken" your old toilet seat was, but you can easily fix these new types of toilet seat. You just need to access the drop bolt and tighten it up.

I'd also be interested to hear how you resolved this. I have a loose soft-close toilet seat on a back-to wall toilet so the bolts are sealed in the basin. I've been trying to get the seat off but can't figure it out. There are two little screws on the hinges that can be taken out with a hex-key but after that I am stumped!!

Thanks ChalkItDown, slightly different seat but I'll take another look and see if I can get the metal caps off.
