Does anyone know is there a maximum timeframe by which a Host Company has to take on their Intern by or not necessarily take on by, but at least have a Starting Date arranged?

On the Eligibility Confirmation Form a Starting Date is required. The Host Company has to then enter the actual Starting Date when the Intern starts work. But what if the Intern hasn't been told when to start. The Company hasn't even confirmed or fixed a date to start at all. Are they allowed to treat an Intern like this? carry on like this?

The starting date on the Eligibility Confirmation Form, what exactly does that mean? Does it stand for anything at all like?!? I assume it's only an approximate / proposed date, but if it has zero adherence value whatsoever, if they don't have to adhere to it in any way, it's totally pointless, and a waste of writing on a Form! Like I know some / most? Companies would likely adhere to that date and stick to it, but then more Companies don't seem in any rush to give an Intern even an inkling of when they're starting work at all........
