A few questions regarding grant and loans

Hi all, have a few questions I would like answered and hoping some of you may have some answers.

At this point I thought I would have had lots of savings behind before starting my degree but unfortunately I don't and am freaking out about funds. I know that susi look at your previous years earnings and for 2013 I earned over €19,000. So my question is if I am eligible does anyone know what I will receive roughly?

Also I reckon I may need to get out a loan. My bank(permanent tsb) did not give me one in September for 1,000 to cover fees of a part time course. Is the credit union the best place to get loans out? I have an account with them but wondering if banks have any interest free loans or pay back when you graduate option.

Also seen as I have noit heard back from susi yet, can anyone tell me what documents I will need to have ready to send to them or is it unique for everyone? Shall I just wait until they contact me?

Any suggestions and answers are appreciated

susi will look at a few things. 1st thing are you applying for the grant alone or will your parents be looked at as well. If on your on 19k per year is under the limit IIRC. but if your parents are listed as well you will most likely push you over the top.

But what you will also be able to do is appeal the decision and asked explain that will the income is over the limit that you have left that job and that the 2013 income figure is not a true and fair reflection and then they will judge you on the 2014 figures which may be a better picture for you

Hey thank you for reply. I am an independent mature student. So my parents earnings won't be looked at

If your earnings are 19,000 you should probably be entitled to the grant. If you were you would get either €3,025 or €1,215 depending on the distance you live from College

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
