MSI gt683 not charging & save on laptops

There are two parts to this thread
Firstly I have a Msi gt683 laptop, it was dropped a while back which left slight damage to the corner of the laptop and the charger connection slightly loose that it would come out at times with slight movement.

I was using the laptop today and went out of the room for a few min, when i came back there was a slight burning smell but I put this down to something else.
A while later I noticed the laptop wasnt charging and no matter what way i moved the connection it wouldnt charge, while checking I realised the smell was from the laptop.
The laptop is working fine, I am trying to back up what I can before it goes flat.
Any Ideas on what is involved to repair it,
and recovering the data when it is flat.

    second part
The laptop was purchased from save on laptops with a 3year accidental damage policy. when I contacted them regarding the damage they said the cover wasnt valid in the south of Ireland, despite the fact that they were contacted prior to the purchase regarding a vat refund to a registered business in the south of ireland and the refund been processed.
Can anyone advise on where I stand on this.

Thanks for your time reading, an any help on either issue would be greatly appreciated
