How do I figure out how many PRSI contributions are on record?

    Hi,

    This question is in relation to Illness Benefit. We had a son in 2012 and my partner became ill during the pregnancy and since then has not recovered. Since her maternity leave ended she has been on Illness Benefit.

    My partner was working as an employee:

    Working: April 2010 -> July 2012 (2 years + 3 months)
    Illness Benefit (to her employer, while she was paid): August 2012 -> October 2012 (3 months)
    Paid Maternity Leave: November 2012 -> April 2013 (6 months)
    Unpaid Maternity Leave: May 2013 -> August 2013 (4 months)
    Illness Benefit: August 2013 -> present (10 months)

    We have now received a letter stating that as she does not have enough PRSI contributions, she will cease receiving Illness Benefit in September.

    We have had issues with her employer not declaring PRSI on time (or at all?) and having to supply the Department with PRSI confirmation from HR.

    So how can we calculate how much PRSI contributions she should have?

    have a look at the above link in relation to how long illness benefit lasts depending on the number of contributions paid. From your posting about it appears that she has only 2 years 3 months paid contributions that is approx 117 contributions which would give her 1 years illness benefit entitlement. Her employer would not have been paying a contribution for her while she was on illness benefit or maternity benefit even if they were topping up her payment she would have been receiving a credited contribution from the department which does not count as a paid contribution.
