Was hit by a car yesterday, the accident wasnt at very high speed so it wasnt too bad.

Some damage to the wheels and i plan on getting the bike looked at by the lbs.

The only mark i can find on the frame is in the photo attached.
Im hoping its just cosmetic, any thoughts?

Hard to say, looks cosmetic but could be worse.

Were you in the right? You can claim off the cars insurance if you were.

As Brian? said it's pretty hard to tell. There could possibly be some hairline fractures elsewhere in the frame due to the crash. The only way of knowing for sure is an x-ray on the frame I think.

I know that xray is always recomended but does anyone actualy get it done?
Is there even somewhere here that does it?

I was in the right but i dont feel like i can demand a new bike because it looks scuffed?

Not been in this situation before so dont really know what to do.

If you were in the right, I can see no reason, why you should not be compensated. Your bike is damaged. You are entitled to have the damage repaired. If it can't be repaired, get it replaced.

It's not unreasonable to expect to be compensated for damage. If they hit a car it would exactly the same thing.

If the frames not a right off, the insurance won't pay out anyway.

Ask insurance company to guarantee in writing, using expert to your mutual satisfaction, structural integrity of frame.

It'll be cheaper for them to replace frame, even if they could get someone to confirm frame is okay without an ass covering clause

Get it checked by the LBS and see what they say. Depending on what they recommend, then decide what to do. Either way, don't feel embarrassed if you have to ask the driver of the car for a claim.

You did record the car details and driver name etc?
