    Hi,

Can anyone with a GoPro recommend the best 'general purpose' mount to get (that preferably isn't a 70 euro "official" one!).

Is something like the gorilla pod or maybe a clamp your best bet for when you're out and you want to "set it up somewhere over there" for a few minutes?

    Thanks

Probably a gorilla style tripod for the use case you mention but you can make lots of mounts with clamps and the official pole mount etc. You can get cheap extending poles with pop out tripod bases. quality is gnerally iffy though.

I'd say get the tripod mount - you should be able to get it for around €10/€12.

Once you have that - you can go an get an tripod you want to - and spend whatever you like.

There's also plenty of videos online that'll show you how to make your own DIY mounts. I just made a handy little grip from the handle of a paint roller the other day. Not the prettiest thing in the world - but works like a charm.

I actually got that as an addition along with a pole. Also picked up the jaw flex clamp and the bobber so should be set now for a variety of scenarios!

    Hi there

Looking for advice on essential GoPro accessories for travelling. Have been looking at the Jaws flex clamp and maybe a pole! Is there any need for a wifi/smart remote?? Or are there any other accessories you would recommend?! For activities like rafting, trekking, etc. Will most likely be leaving my DSLR at home so want to be prepared. Thanks :)

If you had a flex clamp, a pole, and the Bobber that would do you for most situations. The chest mount is good for when you're in the middle of sports as well - so I'd probably get that for the rafting. Of those, you probably only need to get the official flex clamp. A cheap chinese one off ebay will do you for the rest of them.

The remote is useful for taking pictures at the end of the pole, but to be honest I just set it to 2 second timelapses when I'm doing that instead and let it take a few automatically. Then I'll just keep the best one out of the set of 7 or 8 when I get home.
