I think if this was going to be fairly judged I'd go with lara, but since there is so much investment put into canelo by his promotional team & fodded off to the gullible public as some great fighter I'd go with canelo on points! good fighter but way over rated! If lara is a couple rounds up in this fight they will still give it to canelo. I hope lara does it but decision for canelo and maybe controversial.

Yeah, just like I thought. had lara up by 2 rounds but canelo got decision coz of boxing politics.

Or because Lara spent a lot of the fight running from Canelo but why let the truth spoil a good conspiracy theory!!

Well, it was a very debatable win, but I think Canelo won this fight.

Fella, you can still win a fight on your bike! Lara pot shotted him all night, Canelo was only effective to the body. Lara only slowed when he got cut and he came back again. Wasn't wide, but Lara won the fight, simple as that. Canelo is "the name" so he got the nod.

Ronnie Shields needs a slap around the chops for his game plan though, he had Lara on the back foot all night when he could well afford to exchange, throw left hooks behind the jab, Canelo is a hands straight up fighter and is open to hooks, instead it was jab and straight lefts all night (his jab was very effective). Canelo was excellent to the body, and Lara has the speed to counter effectively but they were so hell bent on movement. Lara throwing just a jab or 2 punch combo's all night wasn't a good plan to me.

While I am a massive fan of Canelo, he's basic enough, great ability and good power, decent ring generalship, he's flat footed (personally I like fighters with a spring in their step), De La Hoya needs to stop looking for Cotto, he will take Canelo apart.

I have to agree with that. And now that Freddy is training Cotto, he is too much for Canelo, just a beast.

Agreed, Cotto has that real killer instinct back, he has also got the liver shot back too, was a huge weapon of his for years and when he lost to Margacheato and Pacroid he lost that confident to fire it into guys at will. His experience and smarts will beat Canelo comfy!

yeah even though i think lara could well afford to exchange with him he still done enough to win the fight and like you said you can win on your bike! people only pick and choose when its suitable for them for their fav fighters to win on the back foot! i like canelo but he is way over rated, and people just go with the hype! very annoying!
i actually felt through the fight when lara was hitting 2 and 3 straight jabs he was always getting success with the following straight left and was hurting canelo but then he seemed to dance around again.
back to fighters on their bike, i have seen many a fight where i was hoping or backed the aggressor and i still lost the fight to far more clever boxers!
i had lara up by 2 rounds but yeah you could give it either maybe but canelo was always getting that decision regardless, too much money pumped in to the hype around him, my problem is which is no surprise in boxing is where that other judge got canelo at 117 - 111!

by the way best fight of the night was herrera and perez, 2 game fighters and herrera deserved it over the decision he got against garcia!
