Ive had to send my Garmin 810 away to b fixed as screen cracked so using my spare 500. I miss my 810.Anyone else find the 500 lousy on actual speed when just using the gps? I notice a drop of about 6 or more kph when under a big tree or built up area. Ive seen 13kph before when I was prob going nearly 3 times that. Its very annoying when your trying to hold a certain speed for a given distance.

I have an 810 and a 500 and I find them both patchy when under tree cover.

The 500 is a bit flaky under trees in full leaf, all right, but I wouldn't let it upset me. If you are worried about keeping up an average speed, (probably of limited value in any case...) then, instead of being concerned with instantaneous speed, just set one of the display areas to show Average Speed and away you go....
