I've just received all my P21's.

Basically they were all bang on, except for one which stated that I be owed little over twenty quid. Not the riches I had hoped for.

Can anyone tell me if this is the only possible route to get a tax refund? Or if these things are usually bang on?

    Cheers!

Unless you were taxed incorrectly or you were claiming for additional tax reliefs or credits, then all should be in order. Thats kind of the point of the PAYE system.

As you know , all computers will thrash out of them , whatever is thrashed into them.

Have a re-think , and another look at your tax claims for the years in question .

Could you have missed out on some allowances :
    • Union dues ( 2010 only ) ?
    • work expenses ?
    • medical expenses including dental ?
    • home carer ( is your wife at home looking after kids ) ?
    • medical card holder ?
    • rent ?
    • one-parent ?

Browse through www.revenue.ie and you may see tax credits you have omitted

There are different methods of calculating a P21 , like single assessment , separate assessment , joint assessment .
Ask them to re-do your P21's and give you whichever is most beneficial , after you update them with info of your personal circumstances .
