    Well lads .

Any thoughts on going into the vets racing. I have paid membership but for one reason or another have not been putting in the miles so im not in shape, im 40 btw.

I would consider myself a strongish rider and get in shape fairly quick...what i plan is to get out as much as possible ovef next 2 weeks then just turn up at a race no matter what shape im in.
I dont have time to do 100 km plus spins but I do have time to do 60-70 km spins or hill repeats of howth..

any suggestions from seasoned racers welcome..

I know thers is no shame in getting dropped for a few racss..

    ken

You should be fine. Just turn up and give it a go. Most of the courses are relatively flat/draggy so generally there aren't too many splits which occur.

I take it you've marshalled at least once already so you should have an idea of the pace etc.?

yes marshalled fes weeks back on a tudsday. Pace looks ok but they have put me in semi scratch due to my age i suppose.

    Have you raced previously?

The IVCA will usually put you into one of the stronger groups unless you have someone of "influence" to vouch for you. You will then be moved into the most appropriate group once they have had a chance to assess your ability

Tuesday night racing generally has smaller fields than Sunday mornings and I would start off there if you don't have much racing experience. Those races are up to 40km
