Recently had an employee meeting, no management involved, regarding several issues and attitudes at work - attitudes from both staff and management side.

After the meeting, one of management sent out an email stating that there was an attempt made to record the meeting - an email just sent to all of us saying it was deceitful.

The thing is there would have been no reason for any staff member to record the meeting. Management have enraged staff with this accusation.

Not sure what the question is? Is this right for legal discussion or should be moved to the work problems forum?

Who are the staff enraged at, management or each other? Without knowing anything else about the situation, it looks like management are being respectful of the privacy of the employee meeting?

They can record it if they want.

SUGGESTION: a megamerge for all this recording stuff.

I think the law says that you are supposed to ask permission before recording someone.

The meeting can be recorded without consent. However, the use of the recording may be restricted. Certain companies do not allow the use of mobile phones, cameras or other recording devices on the premises.
