    Hi all,

Have narrowed my choice down to Honda CRV. 10-12k budget so realistically looking at '07 or '08 reg. '08 with my budget is likely to have 100k+ km on it.

Would appreciate any advice on specific watch outs for the CRV, questions to ask etc.

    Thanks.

100km is nothing for a 6 year old car especially a petrol CRV. 2.0 I-VTEC is the same unit found in the Accord, they give very little trouble.

    Thanks for the reply.

I don't do the mileage to justify a diesel - but there doesn't seem to be too much difference in price between the petrol and diesel models in the used ones I've been looking at. Any issues specific to the diesel engine in the CRV that you're aware of?

What sort of driving do you do? Mostly city driving involving short stop/start driving is not very good for modern diesels. Fuel economy would not be that great either around town as a diesel engine takes longer to warm up to optimum temperature. Honda diesels are reliable enough but the petrol is a more simplistic and robust design, if you are doing city driving then petrol is a no brainer imo.

Mostly city / M50. Thanks for the input. Looking out for the right deal now

I've seen a couple of X Trails with decent spec at better prices than the CRV. Any opinions on them?
