This is going to be a seriously hard day in the saddle. There are - count them - 9 categorized climbs, and a whole bundle more uncategorized ones. Nothing particularly long, but there is some seriously steep stuff. We'll be regularly hitting 15% and beyond, so don't expect Kittel or anybody other than a serious Classics rider to be contender.

Very tricky stage to predict both in terms of the winner and when the decisive attacks will come. No strong winds are expected, but there is a 50% chance of precipitation at the start.

Not a day for betting, but I'll put my hypothetical money on Spartacus.

    Oddschecker - Sagan 2/1, Gerrans 12/1, Valverde 12/1, Kwiatkowski 15/1, Albasini 18/1 Cancellara 20/1,

Wow this is a really bumpy stage. It looks like a shorter version of Liege-Bastogne-Liege or one of the other Ardennes Classics!

Agree completely. Should be a great stage, my money is on Cancellara.

I hope the riders can race today as if crowded on Holme Moss may be difficult..loads of people already there
Roads are very narrow in places so peloton could be split ....going very difficult for riders trying to stay at front

I think Nico will give it a go today if he can stay near the front
Also expect Nibali to try something
J-Rod would suit this but not sure he has form

Just hope they can race as should be a fantastic stage

Anyone know what that "sideways/rectangular" bike computer is, that quite a few seem to be using?

Not sure what you're referring to, but a lot of teams are now using re-branded Garmin units instead of SRMs.

Looks like the peleton are really struggling to go slow enough not to reel in the break too quick.

I love the way Greetland is described as a village despite having a population of over 12,000.

If it was in Ireland we'd consider it a decent sized town.

Roche and Porte both went down going over Holme Moss, slow bike change means this'll take a long chase.

63km to go, peloton is about to catch the break. No sign of any sprinters being dropped yet

Novice here so give me.. What's the chances of Roche catching back up with the peloton? If so won't he finish we the same time as the rest pack?

Bit of a brain fart or blonde moment watching this. Just in from a long spin so that's my excuse but I was sitting here wondering what was the story with all the Bobbies doing crowd control in France and what's with all the British flags!!

You mean you missed the invasion? Don't you ever watch the news? The EU will think again the next time they try to ban the British sausage.

Right, I suggest anyone watching on Eurosport stays out, because ITV viewers will know the winner at least 2km before us!
