We are 2 adults and 1 child, boy of 8 looking for a new 'resort' to go to in Spain, Portugal, Italy.... somewhere sunny in the Med.

Would need 8 yr old entertained/something for him to do during day and especially at night. Nearby town/area must have good restaurants but we don't need 'nightlife' surprise suprise. We always go self catering and have been to Corralejo the last few years but junior is getting bored of it and the restaurants have gone downhill...

    Would really appreciate some suggestions....

Good beaches are only a nice to have, we are happy to hang about the Pools during the day.

Have a look at Sunset Beach Hotel in Benalmadena near Malaga. It is really set up for families. There is a club for children during the day and at night family entertainment. Lovely restaurants nearby and they have 2 adult pools and a child's pool.

It is owned by FBD insurance and is very popular with Irish families.

We have stayed there many times off season (being part of the silver brigade!!!) but have recommended it to younger family members who have little people and they loved it there. There is a fantastic fully equipped kitchen in each apartment and supermarkets just across the road so self catering is very easy.

One word of advice if you do go for it make sure you book an external apartment and request sea views.

Wherever you choose hope you have a lovely holiday.

Tx so much for the recommendation. I used go to the Costa del Sol as a kid I remember Fuengirola especially. I thought the area might be a bit tired at this stage but will defo check out Sunset Beach now, thanks again.

Have a look at Greece also, Ryanair fly to Crete, Aer Lingus to Corfu and then Falcon to Crete, Corfu, Rhodes and Zante. There is good deals to be had.

Tx Jamie... someone else mentioned Greece to me. Do you know the best 'resorts' to go to in each of the Islands based on our wants? to narrow it down a bit.

    Hi OP,

Would second Sunset Beach. We've stayed there last 3 years with young kids and they love it. Nighttime entertainment is of a very good quality. Good kids club.

Paloma Park in Benalmadena is highly recommended and is free. Lots of restaurants in Marina - regular buses will take you there. Could also recommended the zoo in Fuengirola, another relatively short bus journey.

Friends on mine go to Cambrells in Salou every year with their kids and the kids love it. Lots of kids to mix with too.
