I know there is a thread about the residents objections etc but what do people think about him now?

This BS that he can't do the 3 concerts as its not viable and its like choosing one child nonsense seems very much like throwing his toys out of the pram.

Its a concert and part of a tour so I can't see how it would matter if he did 3 or 5 days, he would still have the same set up for 1 day as 5.

I think if he pulls the 3 gigs (which he wont), that he will lose a lot of fans. I think whoever is advising him should be fired as he is coming across very badly IMO.

I think if he does 3 Concerts he breaks contract with Aiken ... so its probably a factor

Well surely it was up to Aiken as the promoter to sort the licence so GB can't be in breach on that front. Could be a different story if he pulls out of the three nights but who knows what was in the contract.

If Aiken signed off on the 5 days without getting permission the fault lies at their end so should still have to pay for the extra 2 dates.

Whole carry on is fecking ridiculous tbh.

Really? So its really Aiken pulling the strings and playing bullyboy tactics. Still rather stupid of him to be the person saying it and could lose a lot of fans in Ireland.

Basically, the profit line is obviously bigger running 5 nights, offsets the cost of shipping all the stage sets and that.

I've heard that Prince cancelled a gig in Dublin as it was only profitable as a sell out, the profit was coming from the last 3,00 tickets to be sold, they didn't.

If I wanted to pay big money to see a washed-up act whose heyday was in the 90's play in Croker, I'll wait till the Offaly hurlers get there again :D

But sure it was only originally for 3 nights, the 2 extra were only added because of demand.

Garth Brooks concerts should be allowed marry anyone they want to.

I would be pretty sure that the logistics have all been based around 5 nights, (stage, transport, crew, lighting, video, etc), and that cancelling 2 of them leaves a very tight margin and probably not worth the effort.

Cute, there is no such thing a "dates added due to extraordinary demand", schedules are sorted out well in advance for major touring acts, Aiken/Brooks will have had 5 planned but only announced 1, 2 or 3 (whatever it was originally) to hype sales. As has been stated the 4th and 5th are the profit makers and Aiken/Brooks are not in this for the love of the music they are in it to make a healthy profit.

I would have thought that they book X amount of days but leave contingency for demand. Perhaps I am being naive but I really didn't think that GB would sell out 5 days and that was also the opinion of a lot of people.

So if the demand hadn't materialised for the extra two dates they would have then cancelled the initial three dates?

    I don't believe you.

The people who are getting paid to organise my concerts didn't do it correctly so I'm gonna screw over all my fans.

    Classy.

To be fair, the GAA are just as much to blame. Aiken asked, the GAA are the ones who said yes.

Aiken et al know their stuff they have been doing this for decades they know what will sell. Also as there are no other dates whatsoever announced* they would attract people from across Europe and possibly the US.

    * there is an announcement of some kind July 7th expect that is a full US if not world tour and all this new publicity seems very convenient for that ...

So what?More the fool Aiken, GAA and GB for selling tickets to five shows that had not been sanctioned yet.
As usual in Irish society no one will take responsibility for screwing up.Spin spin spin. Why cant Aiken/GAA tell the truth? They were blinded to all else by the ever increasing pile of cash (or so they thought).
There were only two concerts announced initially not three. The 3rd,4th and 5th were added. So unless GB is doing 5 shows in every other city on his tour then I dont see why he cant do the three they have given licenses for here.Absolute horse sh1te from him.
Mentioning his 'tour'........... as of now, can anyone tell me where else he's playing?

Looks like his World tour dates are the 5 nights in Dublin :D

It is absolute horsesh1t to claim that Aiken and Garth Brooks can not make a healthy profit on sale of 240,000 tickets over a 3 night tour.

It's not like Garth Brooks even had to pay for a personal trainer to get him into shape before his performance

Why doesn't he put the last 2 date on hold and play them at the end of his tour. and give the local people €1000 to go on a nice weekend holiday...

What a right mess this has turned into. People are going ballistic down here, one man I spoke to this morning was close to tears and mumbled something about bulldozing residents properties.

What's so special about this guy, I just don't get why people worship him.

Same thing happened to Elvis when he got fat and washed up.

This is pretty much just rehashing the other thread. Best to keep everything over there.
